To complete your application, you will need to submit:

  • High school transcript
  • Official ACT and/or SAT score report (optional)
  • Counselor recommendation form (for first-time freshmen)
  • International students only: Official TOEFL score report (if native language is not English)
  • International students only: Undergraduate International Student Immigration Supplement
  • Incoming cadets must also meet physical standards similar to those required by the U.S. military (see Fitness Standards).

When will I hear back?

  • The Citadel accepts applications for admission on a rolling basis. Generally, admissions decisions are made within 10 days of an applicant’s portfolio becoming complete, and they are communicated in writing via U.S. mail.

LEAD Scholarship

  • Range: $1,500 in-state, $5,000 - $10,000 out-of-state
  • Qualifications: 3.0 GPA, strong academic preparation, significant leadership and extracurricular activities
  • Process: Data is collected during the application process. Recipients are selected in three phases—award rounds occur in December, late January, and March 1.
  • Notification turnaround time: The Citadel will follow-up with phone calls within three weeks. There is no published deadline.

Other Scholarships

  • Full academic scholarships cover catalog costs (including tuition, room/board, quartermaster charges) and are the most prestigious of The Citadel’s awards to incoming freshmen based on academic merit.
  • Honors Program students receive a $7,500/year scholarship if in-state and $10,000/year if out-of-state (if not a recipient of a full academic scholarship).
  • The 1842 Scholars Program awards $2,000 for participating in-state students and $6,000 for out-of-state students.
